We're Moving!!

A few weeks ago LD was approached by a company about a job. The next thing we knew he had a job up north in Aberdeen, Scotland with a large oil company. It kind of shocked us both. We never ever thought we'd go up north. Down south maybe...but not up north. We'll be moving to Aberdeen at the end of August.

I'm nervous and excited all at the same time. I'm somewhat scared to start over. With no friends and no idea where I'm going. I've done it several times in my life and it never gets easier. But, we are very excited for a new chapter in our lives.  Let the packing begin!

New adventure's await in Aberdeen!

  1. How exciting!
There is a HUGE American expat population in Aberdeen. I think you're going to like having lots of others nearby who can completely understand and relate to your situation.
It's a beautiful city and I'm a bit jealous, although when I see your photos of winter in six months I will change my mind. ;)
Best wishes for a smooth move!

    1. I've heard that! Except I don't really fall into the same category as them. They are on assignment in Scotland for just a number of yrs and then they'll go. They also had their company move them here, etc. We just moved here on our own and we've been doing our own thing the last 5 yrs with no plans of leaving. But, I'm hoping to find some American friends. I've only had 2 American friends here and we didn't get together very much. I've been one of the locals.

I've heard the winter's are brutal. But, brutal for Scottish standard's or brutal for American standard's? There is a difference! We shall see. Here we go!

  3. Perhaps we will be arriving in Aberdeen at the same time! We land on August 15th. Do you have any idea where you will be living yet? We will be near the University of Aberdeen. It would be great to meet you and Sebastian in person one day!

  6. Yay! I think you'll really like it here. And plus, you already have some friends, even if we've only met through the blogosphere. There is tons to keep you and the little one busy and it's a small town so you'll learn your way around quickly. Let me know if I can help in any way.

  7. Hi! I saw a comment that you left on The Blog Maven and decided to stop by. I've almost read all of your post and what an adventure! Your pictures are lovely and I've enjoyed seeing all the old castles and your cute little boy. Plus, we've read some of the same books .. :-)

  13. I think you will love it! It can be very beautiful here if sometimes a little snowy. The area around the University is really pretty (very old). :)

  14. Moving houses have a lot of things attached to it. There goes the sad goodbyes to the house you've called home, people you've made friends with, and the neighborhood itself. And at the same time, there's the exciting part of having the chance to start over, experience and learn new things, and meet new people. Here's to a new beginning!
